What happens when a customer clicks a button in a scenario or types a message?

It is good to know that when a customer clicks on a button in your scenario, even if it is an old scenario, then Alcmeon will proceed as follows:

  • If the scenario this button belongs to is still published AND the step and button still exist, then this button is triggered, even if it means starting a new Alcmeon conversation, and even if the customer was in the middle of a conversation with an advisor.
  • otherwise, if the button is not found in an active scenario, the message is treated as a simple text message:
    • If this message is the start of a new conversation, the "Next Conversations" step will be triggered
    • If this message is not the start of a new conversation, then:
      • if it is part of a conversation with a bot, either we are at a step in the scenario with a "free input" output, in which case it is triggered; or it is not, in which case the "Unexpected text" step is triggered.
      • If it is a conversation with an advisor, then the message is a new message that appears in the Advisor Inbox, in the “Received” tab.
